A great work environment
Companies are constantly trying to create a great work environment. A place where people can work more efficiently and contribute to the growth of business, while growing individually
So, what is this great work environment that everyone is talking about? Is it where the air conditioners or the heaters in the office are working fine? Or, is it the location, where the office is situated in the centre of the city thereby making it convenient for everyone to commute comfortably? Of course these are important aspects of an environment but they are only the physical ones.
The great work environment we all want to create is a positive environment, where people are enjoying their contribution to the business and deriving pleasure from the job they do. Take a Facebook in the US or Toyota in Japan, who have created their own environment, which exhibit the character of their products and people. While the company visualizes and spearheads in creating these environments, the people working in these companies are the ones actually responsible for creating this positive and progressive environment. To give a more local reference, the Chennai Super Kings cricket team is considered to have created the most positive environment for players across the world to come and play – that is why they have never failed to reach the last four in all the existence of the IPL. Let Pride India get inspired by these companies and teams alike to create our own great environment.
We in Pride should emulate an environment where every human interaction is progressive and eliminates impediments, which do not allow for a good environment. A positive environment comprises of qualities like integrity and commitment to the progression of our fellow colleagues. Managers and teams should guide each other to progress in their endeavors, where personal preferences and behaviors should only be positive and nothing else. If we are professional enough, we should sit back and think of those actions which could have had adverse effect on our surroundings and take efforts to correct them for the future.
I am the typical people person and I expect my teams to focus on that aspect of professional development, while working as a team. In the last eight weeks, I have spent time with almost all of you, by interacting at a personal level aimed to create the environment of openness and flexibility. I hope you will join me in doing so too. I expect this to bring us closer in meeting our professional goals and by virtue of that succeed as individuals.
I would like to introduce AIKIDO which propels Pride towards the objective of creating a positive environment.
I earnestly urge each and every Pride colleague to follow these principles and be the change we want to see in creating a great work environment.
